Apples, Bananas and Bread, Oh My or D/s On-line Style toy thoughts , by T A Foley What would you think if you followed a person through the grocery store and he took a bite from an apple and put back the apple... peeled a banana, consumed it and cast the skin to the floor.... opened a loaf of bread, took a slice, nibbled it, liked it, so took two more not even bothering to close the wrapper. Then letting the loaf fall where it may, slaps some lettuce and meat on that bread, opens a jar of mayonnaise makes himself a sandwich....and as you followed on he then guzzles down a carton of milk... and then leaves ... without paying for any of it........ Aside from thinking "...well he eats a fairly balanced diet.." you might consider him a thief, arrogant, selfish, thoughtless and so on and so forth. Some people say "I would stop him long before he got THAT far." Some people say "Its none of my business so long as he stays away from what's in MY cart." But just supposing he had done that , and then other people discover these items. Some look upon them and say "Hey nothing wrong with the rest of the stuff " and purchase it at a reduced price and consider themselves fortunate to have gotten a deal. Now what about the aftermath of the damage? What about the people who come upon what he did, after the fact? Some would look at the goods as damaged and discard it without a thought. Some would completely ignore it, passing over it as though it never existed even while it sits there and eventually puts up a big stink.. Some would complain that it was damaged and then make somebody else discard it. And some would look at the apple/bread/meat/ mayonnaise and wonder if the Sampler had poisoned it, and then look on it with loathing and disgust and force its removal with gloved hands. There doesn't seem to be much use for the banana peel except by a gardener, which in the circumstance of a grocery store would be highly unlikely. So the banana will probably be seen as total waste, run over a few times stick to a few shoes until scraped off. And the milk carton? Well, maybe just maybe it can be recycled if somebody takes the time to take it over to the recycling corner. So what's all this have to do with Dominance and submission? Well, we all know people who walk through the BDSM rooms and take "samples'" without care or caution for the "goods" or for the "goods" usability afterwards. People say they would speak up if somebody were to do such a thing in a grocery store but why don't they speak up when they witness 'samplers' among the people. Are peoples feelings less than things? Are Samplers Dominants? Sometimes, but i see just as many among the submissives. Who are you in the scheme of things? A Sampler, or one who watches and says nothing, or one who comes on the damage and says okay i dont mind the damage and places a value on the goods and is glad for it, or are you the one who views the "goods" as poisoned? Or do you ignore them as you look for your things despite their cry of help? And what about the Grocer? The Owner of all those "goods" which are Dom and sub alike... Won't you have to answer to Him at some point in time? Me? Oh, i want to be the gardener/recycler and find value even in the banana peel and milk carton and even the bread wrapper. I will strive for that all my life: "To see the value in each human being no matter how much i may actually dislike them personally."
